The Origin of The Billy’s
The Billy’s was founded in New York City in 2024, establishing a new standard for cannabis competition. Celebrating excellence, recognize craft, and honoring the cultivators pushing boundaries.
The flagship International Billy Awards presented by Astor Club brings the industry together in NYC to celebrate quality across four terpene categories: Candy, Fruit, Gas, and Haze.
Now, The Billy’s expands to Michigan — carrying the same integrity, elevated judging standards, and premium experience into a new market. This regional event is presented by Voyage Bloom, Fractal, and Astor Club.
While the International Billy Awards welcomes global submissions and brings the industry together in one large-scale NYC judging session, The Billy’s Michigan is intentionally structured as a focused regional experience. Open exclusively to licensed Michigan growers, the competition highlights the state’s cultivation community and the operators shaping its market.
Michigan also introduces a dual-format judging system, a private industry session and a consumer release. All entries are rolled into standardized hand rolls by Phat Andy to ensure consistency across every sample. By eliminating variability in rolling and format, we place an added emphasis on controlled comparison.
Both events share the same commitment to celebrating craft and pushing standards forward — executed at different scales, for different audiences, with the same core integrity at heart.
